100 Websites You Should Know (and Use!)

Complements of our contributor Elaine, here’s a link to the updated list of 100 websites you should know and use, originally presented by Julius Wiedemann at a TED talk in 2007.  The list covers business, audio/visual, literature & arts, and more. I admit, I only use one of these sites but I’m definitely going to check these out!

What websites do you use on a regular basis?

April Meeting – Recap!

Thursday the 11th we had our April meeting at 22.  Elaine Luther gave a great talk on goal-setting for artists, and the you could tell by the discussion afterwards that it really got everyone there thinking about their personal art/business goals!  We all ended the meeting by setting a goal for ourselves to complete by our June meeting – what will your goal be?

During her talk, Elaine mentioned some good resources both online and in book form – she’s provided us with links to access that information, so enjoy!

Thanks again, Elaine, for sharing your time and experience with us!  We can’t wait to see everyone at the next meeting, which will be a book discussion of “Craft, Inc.”, by Meg Mateo Ilasco.  This book is available in some local libraries and you can also buy it new or used at Amazon.com.

Why Artists Publish a Newsletter, by Alyson Stanfield

Every week I (Kristine) get a newsletter from an art coach, someone who is making a living helping artists make a living (that’s not confusing, is it?)  I learn a lot from all of her emails, even if I can’t afford her personal services and “art camps”.   This week’s topic was pretty interesting and something I have trouble with – newsletters!  I’m sharing the link so you can read up – tell us what you think! http://www.artbizblog.com/2013/04/why-newsletter.html?inf_contact_key=bbb353daae43d685cd2a5ff90de1f77e5fb87be6e902fac1b60f86734364a3f2

Coming up: April – June 2013

We have a few upcoming events that we are very excited about!  Meetings are usually held the second Thursday of  the month from 7:30-9:30pm, but dates may sometimes vary so please check our events calendar.

All our monthly meetups are held at Studio 22 on Cermak Road in beautiful Berwyn, IL.  There is no cost to be a Berwyn Makers member but there is a $5 suggested donation per event to Studio 22 for their generous use of the space.  Members are strongly encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to share, and there is always a bottle of wine on hand!  (Hey, it gets the creative juices flowing!)

Here’s what’s happening April-June of 2013:
